  Luso-Hispanic Day

Poster for Luso Hispanic day

Monday October 14th All Day
Our annual Luso-Hispanic Day celebration and the events that will take place from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm offer a great opportunity to hear from, speak with, and learn about the Hispanic and Portuguese cultures and languages. This year we will hear from recent graduates who use Spanish in their workplaces and in their professions; a multilingual poetry reading; and the university chamber singers, among many other activities.  We will end with a short demonstration and audience participation in the art of flamenco dancing.   Bienvenidos y bienvenidas.  Printable poster here.

Jacque Semelin, French Historian Talk
Poster for the Jacques Semelin event

October 21st, Reception at 5:30 p.m and Talk at 6:00 p.m
Between the French defeat in 1040 and the liberation in 1944, the Nazis, sometimes with the aid of French collaborators, killed almost 80,000 of France's Jews. Yet 75% of them survived the way, a much higher rate than in neighboring countries. Why and how? Join us for a special evening with renowned French historian and psychologist Jacques Semelin, who will discuss his newly translated work, The Survival of the Jews in France, 1940-1944.

This event is free and open to the public. For a better look at our poster click here.
