The Dalton State College Library has agreed to provide full library service to West Georgia students. Therefore, when you need library materials, that is the place we recommend (although you are of course free to use any other library you choose). While the collection at Dalton is not large, the Library has plenty of computers you can use to access all the GALILEO databases and the databases to which West Georgia subscribes, so you can do all your searching there if you don't have internet access at home.

Be sure to use the current GALILEO password for West Georgia, however, in order to have the maximum access to which you are entitled as one of our students. We have much more in our online collection than Dalton has.

The best place for you to begin is the UWG Library homepage, which has links to our book catalog and all our databases. If you find books you need from Carrollton (or other libraries in the University System, log into the GIL Universal Catalog to place online requests to have the books sent to Dalton for you. If it's journal articles you need, ask the Dalton library staff to assist you in determining whether they own them, or if you need to look elsewhere. Using the UWG Library's JOURNAL LOCATOR, you may often be pleasantly surprised to discover that the article you want is available online. If not, you may request to have articles from journals UWG owns sent directly to you by using our online Document Request form, or the InterLibrary Loan form if UWG does not have the journal you need. Items are normally delivered to you electronically at your current email address, except for books, which are sent to Dalton College Library by UPS (there is no charge to you for sending books). Please note, however, that you will be charged a per page fee for copies of articles which are sent to you; students on-campus must pay for photocopies, so it is only fair that you pay the same amount they pay. These charges are added to your Voyager account at the time the materials are sent, and must be paid by the end of the current semester.
