Distance Learning Library Services

All Distance Education Students are entitled to receive library support services
from the Distance Learning Library Services Office. A student who is enrolled in both a distance education
and an on-campus class during any given semester, may only receive this special library service for the
class taught off-campus or by distance education.

Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services
LIBRARY SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE FOR UWG DISTANCE EDUCATION
STUDENTS*
- Individualized research consultation by phone, fax, e-mail or in person
- Direct delivery (by mail, UPS, fax, or courier) of articles and books
from Ingram Library for distance education students who cannot reasonably
access an adequate library in their area
(Copying, 7 cents per page. Delivery: no charge for 1st
Class Mail, fax or courier -- $18.00 charge if UPS Next Day Air delivery
requested.)
- Assistance with connecting to online databases
- Borrowing privileges at any other USG library (with ID card or other
photo ID, such as a driver's license)
- Borrowing of materials from non-USG libraries through InterLibrary
Loan (at no charge to student)
if UWG doesn't have what is needed
- Reserve reading materials requested by instructor, placed at a library
convenient to the off-campus class site
- Free campus email accounts (note: these accounts are for email only;
in
order to best use GALILEO, you will need your own account with an
Internet Service provider).
*A distance education student is defined as
a
State University of West
Georgia (UWG) student who is either...
NOT coming to
Carrollton for one of our courses
here on
campus, but currently enrolled in one or more of the classes
taught by UWG at over twenty different sites in
northwest Georgia, OR
is enrolled in a web-based
class
in
which more than 50% of the class is conducted over the web--so
that s/he is seldom required to come to campus.
