MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY
PROFILE FOR COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT
Purpose of the Degree Programs:
The purpose of the Research, Media, and Technology Department is to place research, media, and
technology at
the forefront of the work of educators in the northwest region of Georgia. To accomplish this
the department
offers graduate level classes in Research; three program options in Media at the masters level
and two
program options in Media at the specialists level; and manages a number of technology sites in
the College
of Education including the Teaching Materials Center (TMC), Computer Labs, Photography
Darkroom, and Media
Labs.
Research Aspect of the Department
Concepts, methodologies, and empirical applications of quantitative and qualitative research
in educational
settings are studied. The 800-level courses are designed for students enrolled in a masters
degree program;
900-level courses are designed for students pursuing a specialists degree.
Media and Technology Programs
The programs in Media and Technology are designed to prepare school library
Media specialists, directors of media services instructional technologists, and
instructional technology coordinators at the graduate level. The programs lead to
Georgia Department of Education certification at the NS-4, S-5, and S-6 levels.

Language: Code level E (English prevails)
Date of Publication: Current and in-print publications
Chronological coverage: current developments and historical treatments
Geographic Coverage: international, major emphasis on North America
Formats Preferred: primarily monographs and journals, occasional audio-visuals, microforms,
and
microcomputer software as appropriate. Research Studies, Proceedings, and a wide array of
nonprint arid
other materials appropriate for above degrees.
Exclusions: Exclude 16mm film.
