The general
purpose of the physical education collection is to support the curriculum-related
information needs of students and faculty.

The emphasis is on current publications. Older materials may be purchased
for historical coverage.

International in scope.
Formats preferred:
Monographs and journals. Audiovisual and electronic resources are selectively
included.
Status of
the Program
The department offers a
B.S. degree in Education with a major in Physical Education as well as a B.S.
in Recreation with a major in Sport Management. Graduate Programs include an
M.Ed. in Physical Education and an Ed.S. in Physical Education.

The core collection focuses
on areas covered by the curriculum.
Collection development responsibility
resides with the physical education instructors and chair of the Physical Education
Department. The Acquisitions librarian, the Instructional Services librarian
responsible for the Reference collection, and the physical education liaison
librarian may also select materials needed for the collection.
