Books
Books dealing with the history of Israel(DS101-151) can be found by searching the online catalog. For relevant
subject headings consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings.Books on U.S. foreign relations with
Israel can be found at E183.8 I7. Books on the economy of Israel can be found at HC497 P2.
Journals
Journal articles on Israel can be found in the following journals: Middle East Report, Journal of
Palestinian Studies, International Journal of Middle East Studies, Journal of World History, Journal of Modern
History.
Browsing, however, is not the best approach to locating books on a particular topic. Some of the indexes to use are:
- Historical Abstracts (Galileo database)
- Humanities Abstracts (Galileo database)
- Social Sciences Abstracts (Galileo database)
- Academic Search Premier (Galileo database)
- JSTOR (Ingram Library database)
- Research Library from ProQuest (Galileo database)
- International Political Science Abstracts. (paper index at Ingram Library)
Government Documents
Government publications are particularly useful for materials dealing with U.S. foreign relations with
Israel, trade agreements and co-operative arrangements. Sources for useful documents are as diverse as the
Department of Agriculture, the State Department, and various committees of Congress. Many documents are
listed in GIL (the Ingram Library online catalog). A Galileo database, Monthly Catalog, will give the
most complete listing of government documents, However, please keep in mind that Ingram Library is only
a partial repository for government documents and many of the items found in Monthly Catalog must
be requested through GIL Express or Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
Atlases
The atlas shelves in the Reference area on the main floor of the Ingram Library contain a good selection
of current and historical atlases. Some atlases use alpha-numeric coordinates. Others use latitude and
longitude to give locations.

Author Information
Sometimes this is difficult. If the following titles don't help, as a Reference Librarian.
Occasionally there is nothing written about an author beyond a senetence or two in a book review.
Try the following:
- Contemporary Authors (Ref Z1224 .C6 or Ref Z1224 .C63) There is a Cumulative Index.
- Author Biographies Master Index (Ref Z5304 .A8 A88)
- Twentieth century Author Biographies Master Index (Ref Z5304 .A8 T83 1984)
- Biography Index (Ref CT100 .B56x)
