Biology - Collection Development Profile

Purpose of Degree Programs

The Biology Department offers a BA. degree that is specifically designed for pre-professional students, including pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-veterinary, and pre-physical therapy students. The B.A. degree is tailored to prepare students for rigorous testing for professional schools and for the course demands once a student is admitted. The B.A. degree with a biology education emphasis is also offered in conjunction with the College of Education.

The B. S. degree in Biology is currently the only undergraduate biology degree program in Georgia that requires an independent research experience for the awarding of the degree.

The M.S. degree in Biology has both a thesis and non-thesis track. Biology is also an appropriate subject matter field for the M.Ed. in Secondary Education.
