scientific journals available through Pubmed Central. Users can search article
abstracts or captions to specific pictures and figures.

Science Archives (http://highwire.stanford.edu/). This Stanford
University website offers more than 160,000 free full-text articles on a
large variety of scientific subjects.
- M-Bed(sm):
Embedded Multimedia in Electronic Journals
(http://www.public.iastate.edu/~CYBERSTACKS/M-Bed.htm). This site is
maintained by the Science and Technology Librarian at Iowa State
University. It is a registry of electronic journals that have integrated
multimedia within the text of their associated articles. Common types of
multimedia include audio and video files as well as two-dimensional and
3-D models, and supplemental datasets. Many free full-text articles on a
variety of science topics are available.
- National Academy
Press (http://www.nap.edu/topics.php?topic=278). Although this is a
commercial site which will try to sell you books, they also provide quite
a few full-text books online that can be viewed for free. Most of the
sciences are represented to some extent.
