The University of California manages this site, which indexes over 150 open access
scientific journals available through Pubmed Central. Users can search article
abstracts or captions to specific pictures and figures.
- EurekAlert!
(http://www.eurekalert.org/). This site is an electronic index of research
advances in science, medicine, health and technology as published in news
briefs and in the science media, including peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Although underwritten by commercial sponsors, AAAS is responsible for the
editorial content.
- FirstGov for Science
(http://www.science.gov/). Science.gov contains reliable information
resources selected by the respective agencies as their best science
information. Two major types of information are included—selected
authoritative science Web sites and databases of technical reports,
journal articles, conference proceedings, and other published materials.
- Office of Scientific and Technical
Information (http://pubsci.osti.gov/). The Office of Scientific and
Technical Information (OSTI) leads Department of Energy (DOE) e-government
initiatives for disseminating R&D information. OSTI hosts a number of
products that provide a vast array of information and resources pertaining
to energy science and technology.
- Biology Browser (http://www.biologybrowser.org/).
Thomson Scientific provides this biology browser that includes reference materials
on a wide variety of subjects as well as links to current news and relevant websites.
- HealthWeb (http://www.healthweb.org/).
The National Library of Medicine supports this internet directory that divides websites
on each topic into Academic, Electronic Journals, Conferences, Discussion Boards, and
Educational Resources.
- Biological Journals and
Abbreviations (http://home.ncifcrf.gov/research/bja/). These pages
contain the abbreviations, full titles, and links to some WWW pages for a
large variety of biological and medical journals. The list is by no means
complete or authoritative.
