The Irvine Sullivan Ingram Library's online catalog is a
product called "Voyager" from Endeavor Information Systems, Inc. In June
of 1998, the University System of Georgia chose this system for all
libraries. The project, named GALILEO Interconnected Libraries (GIL), was
considered an extension of the System-wide initiative called Georgia
Library Learning Online (GALILEO), which began in 1995. The project was
divided into three phases; in Phase 2, Ingram Library went into production
with Voyager on December 20, 1999.
The project included authority control contracted with Marcive, Inc.
Bibliographic records were processed by Marcive before forming the Voyager
database. The GIL project includes on-going authority control.
As a partial depository for federal documents, Ingram Library also
obtained retrospective records for selected items from 1976-1996 from
Marcive. These records were also included in the production load.
The Catalog Department is responsible for creating and maintaining
bibliographic records in the database. Endeavor's procedures for
importing, creating, editing, etc. are followed.
