The ultimate goal of the Stacks Team is to ensure that the students, faculty and staff of the University of West Georgia are provided with a well-maintained and accessible collection.

We strive for a quick turnaround, meaning that any book returned to the library will be back in the stacks within a short period of time. Working in conjunction with the Circulation Department, returned materials are discharged and placed on pre-shelves, loaded onto book carts, and shelved neatly and correctly in a timely fashion.

In addition to shelving, the Stacks Team straightens the stacks on a regular basis, shifts materials when space is needed for new books or to alleviate overcrowding, shelf reads the entire collection to determine if books have been correctly shelved, and conducts searches for missing or requested library materials.
